Matthew Chapter 16

The Pharisees and Sadducees came and temped JC to show them a sign from heaven.  And he said red sky at night sailor’s delight, red sky in morning sailors take warning, you hypocrites can see the signs in the sky but you can’t see the signs of the times?   OMG I had no idea that was so old.  I mean he didn’t mentions sailors but all the rest was the same.  JC continued  a wicked and adulterous generation seek and sign and they will be won’t be given a sign except for the sign of the prophet Jonas.  And then he left.

When the disciples came, they had forgotten o bring the bread.  Jesus warned them to beware of the Pharisees and Sadducees leaven.  They discussed it amongst themselves, that it’s because we haven’t taken any bread.   JC saw this and said, O ye of little faith, you think I told you think warned you because you forgot to bring bread.  Did you all forget about the five loaves that we fed to five thousand people?  Or the seven loves, that fed four thousand.  How do you not understand that I’m not talking about bread that you should be concerned with the leaven of Pharisees and the Sadducees?   I’m telling you to beware of the doctrines of the Pharisees and Sadducees!  Ok JC, these are your disciples, you told them you would tell it to them strait without using parables, don’t mock them for not knowing exactly what you are talking about all the time.

Jesus went to the coasts of Caesarea Philippi and asked his disciples who do people think I am.  They answer, John the Baptist, Elias, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.  JC asks but who do you think I am? Peter answers you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.   Jesus answers you are blessed Simon Barjona (remember Simon in called Peter) because  flesh and blood hasn’t revealed it yet but my Father is in heaven.  You Peter, will be the rock I build my church on, and gates of hell will not stop that.   I’ll give you the keys to kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be in heaven, and whatever you lose on earth will be lost in heaven.

Then JC tells them that one they should tell anyone that he was Jesus the Christ.  And then J the C lets his disciples in on the big master plan.  How he has to go to Jerusalem, suffer many things form the elders, chief priests, scribes, and be killed, and raised on the third day.  You know like Jonas spent three days in the whale, JC for shadowed this earlier in Matthew.

Peter wasn’t loving this plan, and told him, no, no this shouldn't happen to you.  JC told Peter, get behind me, Satan, you offend me, you don’t savor God’s things, only man’s things.  Um did JC just call the rock of his church Satan?  I mean sheesh Pete just tries to show you a little compassion and... oh wait I think he was protecting Pete and randomly addressing the devil.  Okay.

Then JC tells his posse, if you follow me, deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me.  If you save your life you will lose it, and if you lose your life for my sake you’ll find it. Does man profit if he gains the world and loses his soul? What would man exchange for his soul? The Son of man comes in the glory of his father with angels, and he shall reward every man according to his works. There are some here, who will not taste death until they see me, the son of man coming to his kingdom.  Wow.  That’s dramatic JC.  You are bringing death with you.

  1. That Satan/Peter thing really confused me in Mark too! They really need to straighten out that line, maybe it's just lost in translation. Also, wow, what a prize whatever Pete has on Earth he'll continue to have but whatever he loses he'll still have lost? Why doesn't he just let him live forever here on Earth, it seems more convenient. I guess because then the besties couldn't play their little reindeer games up in the clouds.
