Matthew Chapter 28

As dawn rose on the end of the Sabbath, Mary, and Mary Magdalene came to see JC’s tomb.  There was a great earthquake and an angel of the Lord descended from heaven.  He rolled the stone back from the door and sat on it.   His clothes were white as snow, and expression was like lightening.  The keepers (guards?)  were terrified, and shook and then became as still as the dead.  But not the dead who walk around and show themselves to people.

The angel looked at the ladies and told them not to be afraid.  He knew that they were looking for Jesus who had been crucified.   The angel told them he wasn’t there.  Come and see where the Lord lay.  Now go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and that he is heading torward Galilee.  I am telling you, you will see him there.

The two Mary’s ran to tell the disciples the good news.  On there well to tell them, Jesus meet them saying, all hail.  And the girls worshiped him.  Jesus tells them not to be afraid but to go tell the folks in Galilee that they will see me soon.

While the girls head out to tell people the good news, the watch came into the city to tell the chief priests what had happened.  When they were all assembled the elders took council and gave a whole lot of money to soldiers, telling them, yes the disciples came in the night and stole the body as we slept.  So they took the money and said, yup that’s exactly what happened.  If the governor hears this we will make sure you are save.  So they took the money and did as they were told.  And this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. Uh I dont' know if that stands true today but it's what is written..

The eleven disciples went to Galilee to the mountain where JC and appointed them.  When they saw him, they worshipped him, but some still had their doubts. JC spoke them saying, I was given all power on heaven and earth. Go and tell all of the nations, baptize the people in the name af the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost.  Teach them to observe all the things I’ve commanded and I will be with you always, until the end of the world.  Amen.  JC you will be with us until the end of the world?  Not all eternity?  Okay.  I guess.

So ends the book of Matthew.   Tune in as I read the Gospel according to Luke!

  1. Whoa. I totally didn't get an Angel and Earthquakes in Mark. I just got some creepy kid. And, I like how if Matthew he answers the doubt that has clearly come up often before he wrote his text. That's pretty defensive and hilarious to me.
