Early in the morning on the first day of the week, they camb to JC’s tomb, I say tomb because I’m tired of spelling sepulcher, and they brought the spices that they had prepared. When they got there they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. When they entered they didn’t see JC’s body. Well this was perplexing, as were the two men standing near them in shiny clothes. Well that scared them, so they bowed their faces to the earth. The shining guys ask why they seek the living among the dead. JC has risen, don’t you remember him telling you he would when he was in Galilee. He told you the Son of Man was going to be crucified by sinful men and on the third day raise again. Now they remembered his words.
They rush off to tell the eleven disciples and the masses. If you are wondering who “they” are, and I was, they are Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James and other women. But they were women, the disciples thought these were just idle tales, so they didn’t believe them.
Peter ran to the to tomb and saw the linens without seeing JC. He wondered what had happened.
Two of them went to the village called Emmaus that day which is about sixty furlongs away form Jerusalem. They talked about what happened, and JC came close to them and when with them. But they didn’t recognize him. He asked them why they were so sad? Cleopas asked him if he was a stranger to Jerusalem who didn’t have any idea what was going on?
JC totally bates them asking what’s happened?
They told him about the chief priests and rulers condemned Jesus of Nazareth who was a mighty prophet of God for the people and crucified him. And about how it was the third day since it happened, and some of the women found the tomb empty, but the angles told them that JC was alive. But don’t worry some of us went to check to make sure the women weren’t lying.
JC calls them fools, and slow of heart. They should believe what the prophets say. Shouldn’t JC have suffered all of this to enter his glory? Um no I don’t really think it’s a great idea, especially the way he sought out death. He told them about all of the scriptures that where about him.
They all came close the village and JC acted like we was going to go on but the fellows stopped him and asked him to stay with them that night. So he ate with them. He took the bread and blessed it, broke it and gave it to them. well that opened there eyes and he vanished out of their sight.
They asked each other if they noticed their heart burning when he talked with us about the scriptures. And they went to find the eleven. They told them that the Lord had risen, and appeared to Simon. They told their story about breaking bread.
As they spoke JC appeared and said peace be with you. Of course this scared everyone because JC was dead and all. He asked them what was the matter. Look it’s me I’m solid not a ghost, he showed them his hands and feet and then asked .if they had any food he could eat. They gave him broiled fish and a honeycomb. And he ate them up yum!
Then he reminded them about he told them about the law of Moses, the prophets, the psalms, and all of that stuff about him. They say it’s written that is behooved Christ to suffer and rise from the dead. And that repentance and forgiveness should be preached among all nations starting with Jerusalem. And you disciples will witness all of this. JC tells them he send the promise of his Father on them but stay in Jerusalem until you get your powers.
He led them out to Bethany and lifted up his hand to bless them. They worshipped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
And we are still in the temple praising God. Amen!
Woo hoo! Risen again for the forth and last time! Gosh I'm glad to be done with the gospels. I don't know what to say other than, I just don't get it.
