Peter and John went up to the temple at the ninth hour and saw guy who had been lame since birth. Every day this guys was carried to the Beautiful Temple every day where he lay at the gate asking for alms. In fact he asked Pete and John for alms, Pete looked at him and told the guy to look at them. He looked hoping to get alms. Pete gave him something better, he told him in the name of JC, he should get up and walk. Pet took his hand and helped him up, and the dude jumped up and stood. But he didn’t just stand, he went leaping into the temple with them. All the people saw him walking and praising God. They know who he was and that he’d never walked a day in his life, so that thought this was amazing.
They all ran to Solomon’s porch wondering about what happened. Peter saw this and told the people, you men of Israel, why do you marvel?
Dude seriously? The way you all say it it’s like the infirmed are spontaneously healed every other second. And if that’s true why are we talking about JC and company as something special. Back to Pete.
Peter asked why do you look so earnestly at us, as if we did this with our power and holiness? The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers who glorified his Son Jesus, who you gave up, and denied in the presence of Pilate when he was determined to let him go… you denied the Holy One, the Just and let a murderer go instead. And killed the Prince of life, who God raised from the dead, which we witnessed.
Oh for Pete’s sake! tee hee It’s just where were you during all of that Pete? You denied him three times and then we don’t hear about you and the other ten until JC’s dead. I didn’t hear about your teary and heartfelt protest buddy.
But it’s through faith and in JC’s name that this guy was healed. You see and know this guy, and now look he’s perfectly healthy. Now, Brothers, I know you were just ignorant and listening to your rulers, but God had tried to tell you all of this through his prophets, that JC would suffer just as they said he would. But repent and be converted and your sins will be blotted out. And the presence of the lord will refresh you.
He’ll send JC, who had been preached to you. JC has to hang out in heaven until it’s time for the restitution of all things, God has had all of his prophets tell you about this since the world began. Moses said told your ancestors that the Lord will raise a prophet of your brethren up like me and you will hear what he has to say you.
Way to go Moses that is officially the stupidest prophesy I’ve ever heard. It’s worse than my own epiphany, I will only be happy when I’m working with my hands. It’s so vague it’s actually stupid. Any way no hard feelings Moses because I don’t know that you said anything of the sort. Luke constantly references vague things in a vague way that doesn’t necessarily make it true.
And it will come to pass that every should who doesn’t hear the prophet will be destroyed by the people. And all of the prophets from Samuel onwards have foretold these days. You are the children of prophets and the deal that God made with our fathers, you and your kin will be blessed. But first he had to raise up his son JC who he sent to bless you turning you away from his evil.
How come when Jesus heals someone we're supposed to believe that he's the son of God, but when Pete heals someone we're supposed to believe JC just gave him this power? I think if I was there I might just think anyone who could do magic things was equally special. But, hey, that's just me.
