Luke Chapter 20

One day, while JC was teaching the people of the temple, the chief priests, scribes and elders came upon him.  They asked him what authority he has to do these things?  Who gave you this authority?

So JC turns the situation around and asks them questions.  Was John’s baptism, of heaven or man?

Oh burn trick question!  If they answer heaven then they have to believe in JC and if they answer man they risk people literally throwing rocks at them because they think John was a prophet.  So they answer they couldn’t tell.

So JC answered back that he couldn’t tell.

Then he told them another parable. *twitch* *twitch*  *twitch* Right another parable.   Oh and this is a bad one.

A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it out to some caretakers as he went away for a long time.  At the end of the season he sends a servant to the caretaker and to collect the fruit but the caretakers just beat him and sent him away empty handed.   So the guy doesn’t involve law enforcement or report this violent jerk, he sends another servant and the same thing happens.  Poor servant!  Again he fails to call the authorities. But sends a third servant who is wounded.

So this brainiac sends his beloved son thinking they will treat him with some reverence.    Why he would think that is a bit of a mystery.  Of course when the caretakers saw the son coming they thought we should kill him because then the inheritance will be ours!  I’m not sure how they are going to get the inheritance, just walk up the guy and say we killed your son, hand over the stuff you were going to give your son.   Anyway despite logic not lining up in any aspect of this story… the son comes for the fruit and they kill him for the inheritance.
So what should the guy who owns the vineyard do to them?  He will go and destroy them.  When the folks listen heard that they were all God forbid!

Okay so lets just quick hash this out, God is the guy who owns the land, he keeps sending his servent sot the people of earth who  beat them up, he eventually sends his son and the people of earth want to kill him for his inheritance?  Doubtful.  I mean seriously how would the people of earth think that would curry favor with god?  And then god destroys them.

I official declare this parable doesn’t make sense.

Because JC has been babbling on and on about how he’s here to save us all, not to die at our hands just to have God destroy us.

Okay moving on…

What does it mean when they say the stone that builder rejects becomes the head of the corner.  I would guess that not all stones are good for all parts of a building.  Whoever should fall on that stone, will be broken, but if that stones falls on them, they will be ground to powder.

So even though the priest and scribes wanted to do him bodily harm, they were afraid because they knew the parables were directed against them.   They sent spies who pretended to be honorable men but were listen to just to catch him saying something that might bring to the authorities.   They told him that they know, he is good and righteous teacher, will you teach us the true was of God?

They asked them if it was lawful  that they give tribute to Caesar?  JC knew they were crafty and asked them why do you tempt me?    Show me a penny, who’s that guy on the penny?  Caesar.  JC tells them to give Caesar what’s his and give god what’s his.  They marveled at his answer and held their peace.

Then came the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection, they asked him, if Moses wrote that if any man’s brother dies and has a wife, but no children, then he should take the wife and have kids with her.  So there were seven brothers and the first took a wife died without having kids, then the same think happen until she was until she was down to the brother.    So when there is a resurrection who is her husband?

JC told that the children of this world marry but the people who make it into the sweet hereafter there won’t be any marriage!  Oh yay!  And they can’t die again, because they will be equal to angels.

Now that the dead are raised,  by the god that Moses saw at the bush, the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob  He is not the God of the dead but god of the living.

Some of the scribes told JC that he had spoken well.  And they didn’t question him after that.

JC asked them how Christ was David’s son?
David said in the book of Psalms “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand till I make thine enemies thy footstool”

David called him Lord so how is he his son?

Okay who the heck did David call lord there?  It just says the LORD said until my Lord.  It’s totally unclear to us, who he’s talking about.  And what the heck are you talking about Christ being David’s son unless David is God… whatever.

JC tells his disciples to be away of the people who wear long robes, love greeting in the markets and sit in the highest rooms in the synagogues and at feasts.  Who devour widows houses and make long prayers,  they will be damned.

  1. That vineyard owner parable really bugs me. What kind of an idiot keeps sending his servants to be killed when he could easily rectify the problem with an impromptu visit. Second, you're absolutely right, why would anyone think that they would get an inheritance by murdering someone's son, particularly when they don't seem to be hiding the fact that they are the killers.

Just one more piece of the puzzle I really do not understand!
