Acts Chapter 2

When the day of the Pentecost came they all came together.  Suddenly from the heavens a sound like rushing wind came and filled the house they were sitting in, and cloven tongues of fire appeared and sat upon them.  They were filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in other languages or “tongues” that the spirit gave them.

There were devout men in Jerusalem from every nation under heaven.  When they heard all of the noise they were amazed, thinking, he aren’t those guys all Galileans?  You know they have no talent for languages.   How do we hear all of our own languages?  Then it lists a bunch of the languages that they spoke in.  They marveled that they all heard the wonderful works of God in their own languages. They were amazed but wondered what it all meant.  Others mocked them saying they are drunk.

Peter stood up with the eleven, lifting his voice and said to them, Men of Judaea, of Jerusalem, know this, listen to my words.  They are not drunk, this is the third hour of the day, the prophet Joel spoke of this.  In the last days God said he will pour his spirit into all flesh.  Your sons and daughters with prophesize, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream.  God’s servants and handmaidens will be filled with his spirit and will prophesize.   He will show wonders in the heavean above and signs on the earth below.  Signs like blood, fire and the vapor of smoke! The sun will darken, and the moon will turn to blood before the great and notable day the Lord comes.     Whoever calls on the name of the will be saved.  Holla!

Men of Israel, hear this, Jesus of Nazareth, the man God approved of, who worked miracles and wonders among you, as you know, who was given to a counsel with knowledge of God, and who slain by wicked hands, who God raised up beyond death, because death couldn’t hold him, yeah that guy, well, David spoke of him.

Wow that sentence just went on and on and on.  I actually broke it short because my fingers where itching to add a period.  And possibly to breath.

David said that "he foresaw the Lord before his face, because he’s on the right hand and he won’t be moved.  His heart has rejoiced, his heart was glad, and hope rests in his flesh.  Because God won’t leave his soul in hell, nor will you let your Holy One see corruption. God showed him the ways of life, God made him full of joy with God’s ways."

Men and brothers let me speak freely about the patriarch David, who is dead and buried, and his tomb is with us still to this day.  David was a prophet, who knew that God had sworn an oath to him, that form the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh Christ would be one of his descendants.  He spoke of the resurrection of Christ, his soul was not left in heal and his flesh wouldn’t decay.

We are all witnesses that JC rose up.  Therefore he is at the right hand of the God, and he’s received the promise of the Holy Ghost and has given us this, which you will see and here.

David is not in heaven but he said “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool”  let all of the house of Israel know that God made Jesus who you crucified both Lord and Christ.

I still have no idea what that means.  I mean really What does that mean?  Who is David talking to and who is he talking about?  On top of that, where is David?

When they heard this their hearts ached, and they asked what they should do?

Peter told them to repent and be baptized in the name of JC for the remission of sins, and you will get the gift of the Holy Ghost.  God promises to you, your children, and all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call.  He talked a lot about saving themselves from this problem generation.   Those who gladly received his word were baptized, and they added three thousand people to their group.

They continued learning the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, breaking now and then for snacks and prayers.  People were afraid because the apostles showed them wonders and signs.  The believers all had things in common; they sold their possessions and goods and left their lives to follow them.  They meet in the temple every day, and went from house to house to eat their meat with glad hearts, praising God and having favor with the people.  The Lord added people to the church every day.

  1. Does this just sound like a weird terrible cult to anyone else? Why does everyone have to abandon everything to get in good with God. You know, if the whole world did that we'd all starve to death. It's not an excellent prescription, and it counts on people not beleiving in your so called universal truth.
